Backup Your SHSH Blob Using Umbrella Firmware [Windows & Mac] - Prepare to JB

As you know we announced you yesterday the iPad 3G has been Jailbroken and @comex told us to prepare for the jailbreak and Backup Your SHSH Blob, So in this post I will show you how to Backup Your SHSH Blob Using Umbrella Firmware, Steps after the Jump ..
Let's Start by the Steps: 
For Mac:

Step One
Download the latest version of Firmware Umbrella from here to your Desktop.

Step Two
Double click the download zip file to extract it.

Step Three
Launch Terminal from your Applications:Utilities folder

Step Four
Input sudo /Applications/TextEdit.app/Contents/MacOS/TextEdit /etc/hosts and hit the Enter key,If asked for a password, input your administrative password.

Step Five
TextEdit will open. If there is a line which contains gs.apple.com, remove it then save the file and exit.
Step Six
Open the extracted folder on your desktop and double click the Umbrella.dmg file to mount it. Drag the Umbrella app from the mounted dmg into the folder on your desktop. Then double click the Umbrella app to launch it.
 
Step Seven
Input your ECID, select your Device Version, and choose a SHSH Repository. If you do not know your ECID you can follow one of these tutorials:
- iPhone: Mac, Windows
- iPad: Mac, Windows
Select Apple from the SHSH Repository dropdown if you just want to query Apple for your SHSH and save it locally. Select Saurik - Cydia from the SHSH Repository dropdown if you want to check Cydia for your SHSH and if Cydia doesn't have it, it will be stored there.

Click the Submit button to continue.

Step Eight
Once The Firmware Umbrella has completed you will see a status message indicating the SHSH was saved.

Notice a .shsh file will be created in the folder on your desktop. Make sure to save this for future use.

For Windows:

Step One
Download the latest version of Firmware Umbrella from here to your Desktop.

Step Two
Right click the download zip file and select Extract All to extract the archive to your desktop.

Step Three
Right click Notepad from within Start:Programs:Accessories.


Choose Run as administrator from the contextual popup menu.


A popup will appear asking if you would like to give Notepad system access. Click the Yes button.

Step Four
Open the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file.

Step Five
If there is a line which contains gs.apple.com, remove it or comment it out then save the file and exit.

Step Six
Open the extracted folder on your desktop and double click the Umbrella.exe file to run it.
You need to have Java installed from here in order to run Firmware Umbrella.


Step Seven
Input your ECID, select your Device Version, and choose a SHSH Repository. If you do not know your ECID you can follow one of these tutorials:

Lala is shutting down by Apple On 31

Apple announced that it will stop its online music service Lala on May 31. When you try to subscribe a new member you will get the message "Lala is shutting down.


The Lala Service will be shut down May 31, 2010. Unfortunately, we are no longer accepting new members." If you're a member you can continue to use the service until the end of the month. If you have credits at Lala they will automatically become iTunes credits. As you know Apple bought Lala for around $80 Millions on December 4th, 2009. After the sad news of Lala, Apple will announce the iTunes cloud service on June 7th at WWDC.[via Neowin, Blogsdna]

Twitter finally unveils an official app for the Android. The new twitter app integrates automatically with your contact list. it is only compatible with Android 2.1 devices. The twitter app looks very smart, it is really different from the other non official twitter apps.

iPad Video Quality in 3G and Wi-Fi

Here’s a couple of screenshots from the iPad’s YouTube app showing the dramatic difference in quality between Wi-Fi and 3G I found on a twitter tweet by macTweeter

The difference is clear. Over Wi-Fi, video quality is near high-def. Over 3G, it looks like a bad QuickTime movie from the mid-1990s.
Of course, this isn’t new — it’s just much more noticeable on the iPad’s big beautiful screen. This has been the case on the iPhone for some time, but on the smaller screen, the difference in quality isn’t as dramatic.
